August 17-21, 2015 Week 2

2 Week 2 : Monday Directions: Wite the vocabulary word and its definition, then create your own sentence using the word correctly. Soil stains – Non-moveable artifacts called features such as soil stains are important sources of information on archaeological sites. soil stains that indicate where storage pits and grave sites once existed.  Pedestal – When trying to excavate a fragile skeleton certain precautions such as pedestaling are used. From p. 25 in Written in Bone: “The bones are left lying on a pad of soil”’ “Pedestaling results in the highest possible visibility of the details of a skeleton as well as its position in the grave.”

3 Week 2: Tuesday Directions: Wite the vocabulary word and its definition, then create your own sentence using the word correctly. 3. Shrouded – Evidence indicating that a body had been wrapped in cloth before burial. 4. Ancestry - A person's ancestors : the people who were in your family in past times. 5. Epiphyses – The bony caps located at the ends of long bones. (p. 28 from Written in Bone)

4 Week 2: Wednesday Directions: Read your sentence. Underline the vocabulary word and at least one context clue that helps identify the meaning of the word.

5 Week 2: Thursday Directions: For each of the 5 vocabulary words from this week, draw an image that best represents what the word means to you.

6 Week 2: Friday Vocabulary Quiz Directions:
Rewrite the definition in your own words. 2. Provide an example and a non-example.
