Permissive TDY (PTDY) Definition: MILPERSMAN 1320-220
Time away from their assigned duties to assist with transition activities such as job and house hunting.

Leave granted in excess of earned leave and advance leave, and a period during which the Service member is not entitled to pay and allowances. Not for retirees Use only in rarest of cases; SVM not in duty status

Yes to PTDY NO to PTDY Involuntarily separated under honorable conditions Retiring Medical Discharge High Year Tenure (HYT) E4-10 years E5- 16 years E6-22 years E7-24 years RC on FTS Separating -TGPS not available locally (7 days) Separating at the end of a normal term of -end of active obligated service (EAOS). Mobilized reservists or reservists on extended Active Duty for Special Work (ADSW)

PTDY Facts OCONUS command sponsored dependents may travel on space available government air for one round trip between the overseas port of embarkation and the first CONUS port of entry. OCONUS command sponsored dependents may elect to take the one-time round trip either with the sponsor or in an unaccompanied status.

Involuntarily separating with SPD code, option to request 30 days excess leave in lieu of PTDY.
