(A) A wheat tiller in the stem elongation stage in which the upper internode is already glaucous, while the next lower internode is still glossy (Zadoks ∼GS39). (B) to (D) RT-qPCR analysis of the three β-diketone biosynthesis genes was performed in wheat BL glaucous and glossy internodes. Relative gene expression of DMP(B), DMH(C), and DMC(D), shown as means ± sd of n ≥ 3 biological replicates. ***P < (E) Coexpression analysis, r-value cutoff (unless indicated otherwise in numbers and gray lines) = Gray and yellow circles on dashed black and red lines show numbers of genes coexpressed with two or all three β-diketone biosynthesis genes, respectively.
