Look for clues to a word’s meaning not only in the sentence in which it appears but also in surrounding sentences
Ex: On tough days I can be a little pessimistic.

These Greek word parts can provide clues about the meaning of a word
Example: hydro (means water)
Hydrogen

6. Subject and Object Pronouns
Subject pronouns: used as the subject of a sentence
I, you, he, she, it, we, they
Ex: She drives too quickly.
Object pronouns: used as a direct object, indirect object, or the object of a preposition
Me, you, him, her, it, us, them
