Determine whether the ordered pair is a solution of the linear inequality.
1) y > 3x – 5 (-4, -13) Answer : yes, -13 > -17 2) y < -x + 7 (9, -1) Answer : no, -1 is not less than or equal to -2

Graph each inequality. 3) y < x - 2 First, graph the line y = x – 2. Do the points on the line make the inequality true? If so, draw a solid line to show those points satisfy the inequality. If not, draw a dotted line. Inequalities involve shading. In what direction do we shade this graph? How can we do this?
