You will need to demonstrate your speaking and listening skills by: Giving a presentation in a formal context Responding appropriately to questions and to feedback, asking your own questions to seek clarification Using spoken Standard English As this is your first attempt at Spoken Language, you will be working in groups. What goes into an ‘outstanding’ presentation? Mind map – think pair share. Make sure that they cover the basics. You may wish to demonstrate good practice here. Ensure that they cover the importance of engagement with the rest of the class. You are going to work in groups to take on the role of a character.
You will need to defend why your are not to blame for the death of Eva Smith / Daisy Renton. You will also need to assign blame to someone else… You will be required to interrogate the other characters when they present, so you will need a bank of questions to ask. Every member of your group will need to present to the class – ensure roles are spread out evenly. Assign yourself a role and defend yourself against the accusation that you are the most to blame Mr Birling Mrs Birling Sheila Gerald Eric Groupings at the teacher’s discretion. The Inspector is quite a tricky character, so it would be worth assigning him to a more able group. Could also include a group to blame all 5 key characters.
