First Day of School! September 4/5, 2014 OBJECTIVE: Students will identify the 4 main purposes of having a government in order to analyze the Preamble of the U.S. Constitution and identify the purposes of the U.S. Government. WARM UP: Take out your BCR draft from last class. Finish the draft of your BCR. When you are finished, trade with a partner to score the response… Scores range from 0 to 4. Today’s Activity: Analyzing/Evaluating the Preamble
DIRECTIONS: On your handout, reading and follow the directions for each section: Vocabulary (Side 1) Define the 16 terms, used in the Preamble. Find synonyms for each of the 16 terms. Summary (Side 2) Summarize each line of the Preamble in your own words! Preamble Evaluation (Side 2) Think about what’s missing in the Preamble… then, write your response in the space provided.

Homework: Due Next Class Define Terms /Revise your BCR
Using the BCR from the Warm Up, you are going to revise it to improve your score by at least 1 point. If you did not finish in class, finish section 1 of the Preamble activity (define the words and find synonyms. Note: Even if you received a 4 out of 4, you are still expected to revise your BCR. See the writing checklist provided!
