2 Aims of this Workshop To develop knowledge and practical skills in the moving and handling of small children

3 Objectives Explore the basic principles for handling children including the use of risk assessments Increase understanding of current Scottish context for Small child handling Provide opportunities for scenario based practical handling Discuss and explore ‘non-standard moving and handling of small children

4 Good practice when Moving and Handling small children
Gain Consent Consider personal space and dignity Be aware of your own body language Use appropriate communication Always promote independence Have empathy Allow the child to initiate the movement Move with the child Try to keep the movement natural and fluid
