Sentence Diagramming: a way to see a sentence spatially; to place each word in its appropriate place as though sentences parts were pieces of a jigsaw puzzle

3. Subject – be verb – Adverb of Time or Place
Shortened: s – be – adv/tp
Uses some for of the be verb:
Is, am, are, was, were, be, being, been
The be verb is the MAIN verb, not a helping verb
Because it is a be verb, it must have some element to follow it in order to complete the idea
REMEMBER: a prepositional phrase can function as an adverb
