The birth of a Savior “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11

The Birth of a Savior Isaiah 9:6-7 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

The Birth of a Savior Isaiah 9:6-7 Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

The Birth of a Savior Luke 2:11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

1. Jesus was born to reveal God
The Birth of a Savior 1. Jesus was born to reveal God

The Birth of a Savior John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

The Birth of a Savior John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 14:9 Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.
The Birth of a Savior John 14:9 Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.

The Birth of a Savior Colossians 1:15-17 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.
The Birth of a Savior Colossians 2:9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.

The Birth of a Savior Hebrews 1:1-4 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.

The Birth of a Savior Hebrews 1:1-4 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

1. Jesus was born to reveal God 2. Jesus was born to die
The Birth of a Savior 1. Jesus was born to reveal God 2. Jesus was born to die

The Birth of a Savior Isaiah 53:2-6 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

The Birth of a Savior Isaiah 53:2-6 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted.

The Birth of a Savior Isaiah 53:2-6 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

The Birth of a Savior Luke 9:22 And he said, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.”

The Birth of a Savior Luke 24:6-7 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ”

The Birth of a Savior Luke 24:25-27 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

The Birth of a Savior Luke 24:44-47 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

The Birth of a Savior 1. Jesus was born to reveal God 2. Jesus was born to die 3. Jesus was born to reconcile humanity and God

The Birth of a Savior Isaiah 53:5 the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed

The Birth of a Savior Romans, 5:10-11 For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

The Birth of a Savior 2 Corinthians 5:16-21 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

The Birth of a Savior 2 Corinthians 5:16-21 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

The Birth of a Savior Luke 2:10-11 Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; who is Christ the Lord.
