RESEARCH Pure (Basic) Research: research designed to answer a theoretical or academic question, or to develop a theory; it’s not intended to have any social or economic value, and has no immediate application to personal or social problems Observing what happens to a monkey that is raised in isolation Studying the changing abilities of a child from age 2 to age 5 Exploring the mind-brain connections in adolescents

RESEARCH Applied Research: research conducted in an effort to find solutions to a particular personal or social problem; research designed to objectively solve practical problems rather than to answer theoretical questions Searching for the cause of depression in the hopes of finding a cure Using psychological concepts to boost morale and productivity in the workplace Studying different keyboard designs to determine which is the most efficient and ergonomic

As you enter, please take out all your Unit One classwork & homework papers and staple them together with the Assignment Cover Page on top. Then stack them up on the Front Table!

We’ll do it two ways: Zipgrade bubble sheet (when you’re done bubbling in, raise your hand and I’ll bring you a handheld) iRespond handheld (when you’re done, raise your hand and I’ll collect your papers and handheld)

Shift Into ‘Test Mode’ LISTEN and follow all instructions!
Until the last person is done: No talking No squawking (no disruptions) No gawking (eyes on your own paper) No walking (raise your hand and I’ll come to you, you may need to be patient if I’m helping someone else, I’ll get to you ASAP) No electronics! When you’re done, raise your hand and I’ll collect your papers/handheld…then give you a Unit Two Preview Wordsearch you can do while you wait for your classmates to finish their test.
