2nd Grade Information
THANK YOU to all those who showed up to Back to School Conferences. We are off to a good start to the school year!
READING BUDDIES: We will be having some middle school students come down twice a month on Thursdays to work on some reading skills with the second graders. Mrs. Munson’s 6th graders will work with Mrs. Hanken’s class at 11:30_. Mrs. Wilson’s 8th graders will work with Mrs. Goergen’s class at 10:00. We look forward to meeting our new buddies!
HOMECOMING T-SHIRTS: A flyer about homecoming t-shirts was sent home today in the binder. You can complete the paper with the money and return to the classroom teacher or the elementary office.
D.E.A.R. is Drop Everything and Read. The WHOLE school participated in DEAR Time. This month we do DEAR during first hour or at 8:10. The kiddos really look forward to this!
ACCELERATED READER (AR): We have begun reading AR books!! Second graders should read their picture book at least 3 times before they take a test. For chapter books, students only need to read it once. Before they take a test, the student should review each chapter in the book with an adult.
LUNCH: Second grade lunch is at 12:35-1:05
MILK BREAK: Since lunch is so late, second graders will be very hungry. Please make sure your child has a healthy milk break snack. A sandwich is a good idea!
BREAKFAST: Please refer to the elementary handbook for information about breakfast.
ABSENCE: If your child is absent, please the teacher and the elementary office. You may also call the elementary office at to leave a message on the school answering machine during late hours.
TENNIS SHOES: Tie tennis shoes are required for phy.ed. Students may keep a clean pair of shoes here at school and change in the morning before phy.ed.
