Identifying your State Legislator
You can learn who your legislators are by visiting the Illinois State Legislative Directory
Key in your six-digit zip code
Your district may split and you may be asked to enter your address.
You may wish to schedule meetings with your Institutions representative(s) as well as your local (home) representative(s).
Contacting your State Legislator by Phone
You can call your legislator either at their district office or, during the legislative session, at their Springfield office. The Springfield office switchboard can be reached at (217) Ask for your legislator by name.
Tips for making an effective phone call:
Introduce yourself by name and identify yourself as a constituent. Provide your address and telephone number if it is requested.
Explain that you will be in Springfield on May 17th and would like to schedule an appointment with your legislator.
You may be asked to share the purpose of your visit.
Remember to always be courteous and respectful.
