Someone who can mark in every class from Early Years to 6th Form through PMLD, MLD and EBD A ‘real life’ TA! Someone who understands what TA1’s are going through Effective use of TA’s across the 2 sites In house training via communication with Class Leads and SBL

Expectations of teaching assistants Understanding needs of children and young people in terms of next steps and progression Lack of training

4 What Ofsted looked for…
We are very proud to have recently received an Outstanding grade at both GANF schools. Sandon 14th June 2017 Ambergate 27th June 2017 How communication methods are used to give verbal feedback. Use of symbols/Makaton/visual rewards and praise. Focussed on the marking policy and ensured use of marking that made an impact. Rigorous process to ensure marking was done properly – looked for proof of work analysis forms Looked for evidence of verbal feedback, use of marking key and next steps. Much less on marking and feedback agenda at Sandon but quick glances at Tapestry and books to see progression and opportunities to progress. Clear evidence of progress: How feedback and marking influence assessment and next steps – opportunities for children to meet next steps in books/Tapestry.
