I. “If you do well, will you not be accepted?…” A. Turning to God is “doing well” (I Timothy 1:12-14). B. God is our Creator! He sets the terms (Micah 6:8).

II. “…If you do not do well, sin lies at the door…” A. Sin is always close at hand (I Peter 5:8,9; Matthew 7:3-5). B. Others are also close at hand. (Rev 3:20; Matthew 7:7,8).

III. “…Its desire is for you…” A. Sin wants more victims! (Romans. 6:16-18). B. Desire is the root of sin! (James 1:12-15).

IV. “…You should rule over it” (NASB) “You must master it.” A. It is possible to “rule over” sin (Matthew 26:41). B. Sin will master us, if we allow it (II Tim 2:24-26; 3:5,6; Titus 3:3). C. We “must” master it! (I John 3:6,9; 5:18).
