What does relevant mean? TIF: Try to use an example or quote for each reason. “The Bible is not relevant today” It is relevant Reason 1 Reason 2 It is not relevant Reason 1 Reason 2 n.b this question is asking you about the Bible’s relevance today i.e. whether it still fits in with modern times. Reasons for supporting this statement could be: • it was written a long time ago and does not deal with modern problems • it contains rules that would be impossible to enforce today • there are many atheists and agnostics for whom it holds no meaning • people of other religions would find their own Holy Books more relevant Reasons for not supporting this statement could be: • it contains universal laws • the moral teachings of Jesus are a good example to follow • the laws of the land are based on Christianity • 80% of the population claim to be Christian New 6 mark structure!!!
