How has Quebec and Canada’s economy been independent or dependant through history?

2 Economy: A Definition An economy is the system of human activities related to the production, distribution, exchange, and consumption of goods and services of a country or other area.

3 Primary sector of the economy: Involves the extraction and production of raw materials, such as corn, coal, wood and iron. (A coal miner and a fisherman would be workers in the primary sector.)

4 Secondary sector of the economy: Involves the transformation of raw or intermediate materials into goods e.g. manufacturing steel into cars, or textiles into clothing. (A builder and a dressmaker would be workers in the secondary sector.)

5 Tertiary sector of the economy: Involves the provision of services to consumers and businesses, such as baby-sitting, cinema and banking. (A shopkeeper and an accountant would be workers in the tertiary sector.)

6 Factors of Production factors of production are the resources used to produce goods and services Land or natural resources – naturally-occurring goods such as water, air, soil, minerals, animals etc., that are used in the creation of products. Labor – human effort used in production, which also includes technical and marketing expertise.

3. Capital stock – human-made goods that are used in the production of other goods. These include machinery, tools and buildings. Capital may also refer to the money to buy these goods
