9. Drug Situation in Finland
Estimated number of drug users –19.100
Representing 0.5 – 0.7 % of 15 – 54 year-olds among the entire population 
Nearly 4/5 used amphetamines 
80 % are men
Majority belong to the 25 – 34 year age group
The number of new HIV and hepatitis infections among intravenous drug users has decreased since 2000
In Finland there are HIV-patients

11. Substitution Treatment
Psychosocial rehabilitation is a crucial factor supporting medical care.
In the Metropolitan Area there are 2000 – 3200 opiate users.
In Helsinki we have 500 clients in the substitution treatment.

12. Mindfulness (Awareness) Skills in Care for Drug Users
Addiction to drugs may have its roots in the feelings of anxiety and frustrations a person is not willing to experience
The clients are helped to become conscious of their thoughts and feelings
After learning mindfulness skills the clients can accept even the unpleasant emotions
