Most helpful sites will be posted on the BLHS web site On career day all seniors will be expected to shadow Pick up permission form and turn it in day before you leave, set them up yourself look for preview days Rep visits will always be posted outside the guidance offices, many reps send reminder postcards College Go Week drastically changed, no more fee waivers for IU and Purdue- emphasis is on “find the right fit”

Credit Evaluations General Diploma: 49 credits, less math, less science, more flexibility with electives Core 40: 49 credits, more math, more science, solid academic electives Academic Honors Diploma: 52 credits, GPA, dual credit and/or AP courses and exams (check web for more details. Review requirements of each diploma What each diploma means in terms of admission and financial aid

What are your strengths/weaknesses Do it for yourself Know your resources Seek help and advice when needed Parents Alumni from schools School personnel-teachers, counselors, staff Most difficult part of the process Be realistic Most ignored step and can have the most significant long term consequences

General Rule of Thumb The higher the GPA, the sooner you should apply – merit money is available Research and apply first semester 3 to 5 colleges Make college visits/talk to reps at school Scholarships: Rm 144 keeps an updates list, check it out frequently Give percentiles:

Applying to colleges If you are using online college application
Watch deadlines Submit application Submit test scores via testing agency Pay and request transcript through Naviance If you’re using common app (check first) Open common app account Add schools Sign FERPA Match common app in Naviance

21st Century Scholars Transcripts: first one is free, for official, 2.00 for unofficial Need transcript release form and ss#- DOE web report is all we use it for Be sure to look for secondary school report or counselor page Not all colleges require recommendations, pay attention to whether or not your school needs/wants one
