3. Weathering of rocks (rocks break into smaller rocks)
Mechanical:
Stress that keeps rock’s chemical structure as it breaks down.(Wind, freezing, abrasion, animals, plant growth)
Chemical:
Stress that causes a chemical change to rocks. (Water dissolving, rust, acids, pollution)

Soil horizons
Soil: minerals get crushed down into basic minerals (smaller rocks we use for nutrition)
Horizons: As rocks decompose on top of each other it forms other soil layers
Horizons have different textures depending on type of minerals and layer
