Figure 2 | Pharmacokinetic action profiles of rapid-acting insulins. The schematic shows the pharmacokinetic action profiles of rapid-acting insulins7,102. Compared with human regular insulin, insulin aspart, insulin lispro and insulin glulisine have a faster onset of action, a higher peak level and a shorter duration of action. Compared with the other rapid-acting insulin analogues, the curve for rapid-acting insulin aspart is shifted to the left, with a similar area under the curve, but a faster onset and earlier peak.
