In-text citation Any time you use information from a source, you need to identify that source at the end of the sentence in parentheses ( ). In-text citation is sometimes called parenthetical documentation/citation. You will also need to list the source information on the Works Cited page – the last page of your research paper.

Direct Quote • Text that is copied word for word from a source

Paraphrasing • Text from as source that you have read and put in your own words - do not look at the original when you’re re-wording it • Does not need quotation marks, but does need a citation Some researchers say that long-term weight loss is only possible through constant dieting, exercising regularly and checking one’s weight (Spools 289).
