3 Choosing a Template Choose Feet and Inches to design large objects
Choose millimeters to design very small objects

4 To change measurements from American to Metric:
WINDOW -> MODEL INFO -> UNITS

5 The Standing Figure The visible figure is there to show you relevant SIZE as you design. The figure changes every year.

6 Axis lines & Origin Solid blue is UP Dotted blue is DOWN
Solid green is NORTH Dotted green is SOUTH Solid red is EAST Dotted red is WEST Where all the lines come together is called the ORIGIN

7 View -> Toolbars -> Large Tool Set

8 Moving Around the Screen
The PAN tool will allow you to slide the screen around side to side and up and down. The ORBIT tool will allow you to rotate (orbit) around your objects.

9 Basic Tools and Shapes

10 Deleting the Figure Select the figure with the ARROW tool and press DELETE on the Keyboard. You can also use the ERASER tool to delete anything that is selected.

11 PENCIL tool Use the PENCIL tool to (try to) draw a 3D square.

12 ORBIT around the double check
Hopefully your square looks better than this one!

13 FREEHAND tool Use the FREEHAND tool to (try to) draw a 3D square

14 DELETE All Select all the objects on the screen (they will all be BLUE) and Press DELETE on the keyboard.

15 The SQUARE Tool Use the SQUARE tool to draw a square starting at the origin.

16 Use the PUSH-PULL tool to pull your flat square UP to make it 3D!

17 Any SIDE (called a “face”) of an object can be pushed or pulled.

18 Use the CIRCLE tool to draw one circle on the “ground” and one circle in the air.

19 Rotate (ORBIT) around to see what you’ve drawn!

20 Use the PUSH-PULL tool to pull (or push) the circles to make them 3D

21 Use the POLYGON tool to draw a simple polygon (stop sign)
Use the POLYGON tool to draw a simple polygon (stop sign). Then pull and push it into different shapes.

22 UNDO & REDO CRTL + Z = UNDO CRTL + Y = REDO

23 Practice with each of the ARC tools

24 PAC-MAN Use the PIE arc tool to draw a Pac-Man shape.
Use the PAINT tool to paint it yellow. Make Pac-Man 3D Paint his eye black Paint all sides (faces) yellow Use the Rotate tool to stand him up! Show Mr. Johns Question: What needs to be done to Pac-Man before standing him up?
