Screen up as delegates settle. Joanne McEntee, Sarah Fenner and Helen Davis Medicines Information Pharmacists North West and West Midlands Medicines Information Centres

2 Welcome to Leicester! Welcome to the NMITC which has been running since the early 90’s and improves and adapts to MI needs every year. The course is part of the current UKMi standards for MI – you will learn more about those in the CG session – and is unique in that not many specialist pharmacists are offered a residential course. We are also currently working with RPS to develop more of these courses for other specialist pharmacists and are working towards RPS accreditation for this course. All our tutors are knowledgeable in their chosen subject. Please feel free to ask them questions. Before we start this course learning, I have a few things to run through which will be applicable throughout the next 3 days you are here. Firstly – has everyone registered? Your room keys will be available at XXX and you can go to your rooms with your luggage at XXX.

3 Housekeeping Housekeeping Fire alarms and exits Toilets
Programme including start times Evaluation forms Fire alarms – in your rooms when you later go to them, there will be a notice telling you where the assembly point is – please take a few minutes to read the notice and get your bearings. Toilets are located X & Y at John Foster. The agenda we sent to you originally was subject to minor changes depending on the number of responses we got. We have just under 40 delegates here today and so we have amended a few things to ensure you are able to get the best out of the course. All tutors were made aware of our delegate number and have written their sessions accordingly. Has everyone picked up a new agenda? Please remember that we have a lot to cover and so be punctual for the start times. Tutors have been instructed to stick to time. If you have questions for them, you can catch them at lunch/dinner as they will all be around during the day. At the end of the day, we will collect the evaluation forms. Please complete these as you go. Your feedback is valued and does inform the next course. All responses are collated and anonymised then discussed at the next ETWG meeting. At the end of the course we will issue a certificate of attendance in exchange for a completed evaluation form. Mobile phones – please turn off or have on silent. If you need to take a call please leave the room discreetly and return without disrupting the session. Handouts – any changes to sessions = announcements

4 Ice Breaker! It’s your birthday! Truth or lie!
To help everyone get to know each other – two short ice breakers; one as a large group and the other split into four groups (about 9 in each). Ice breaker 1 – arrange yourselves in order of your birthday from January to December, but without speaking or writing! Use hand signals or charades only. You have 5 minutes. Ice breaker 2 – pick slip of paper out of bag, think of a truth about yourself (or make up a lie), tell the group, then ask each other questions to find out who is telling the truth. There will be 2 liars! Can you tell who they are? You have 15 minutes.

5 Meeting everyone Who you are Where you work
Why you are here – one thing you would like to achieve CPD opportunities Round the room – quick intro. I will be making notes on flipchart as we go round so that we can re-visit at close on Wednesday. Anything that comes up that isn’t on agenda – I will try to get covered in the time we have. (allow 10 minutes then go round)

6 Thank you Thank you for listening. It is now time to break for lunch – give you a chance to network and share ideas. Buffet lunch being served in John Foster Dining Hall. (One chair to check food ready) Please return promptly at
