Where do you produce the compost?
To produce the compost it is necessary to have a container for composting… School Year 2005/2006 Comenius project

To begin the production of compost
The first thing to do to make compost is: put some branches and some dry leaves at the bottom of the container to allow the drainage of the water. School Year 2005/2006 Comenius project

After you have to add: discarding vegetables, food without dressing, organic fruit peels. School Year 2005/2006 Comenius project

Every week or month it’s better to mix the content of the container in order to obtain air and water exchange. School Year 2005/2006 Comenius project

Sometimes you can put many dried leaves into the compost. So you give it the right amount of mineral salts. School Year 2005/2006 Comenius project

How many time does it take?
It takes about 9 – 12 months to obtain mature compost from the container. School Year 2005/2006 Comenius project

We also produce compost!
During Science classes we take our ashes, coffee grounds, egg shells and all the other components and we bring them to the container. School Year 2005/2006 Comenius project

What we do at the refectory.
On Tuesday we collect fruit peels and small pieces of napkins from our lunches at the refectory. After checking that they are clean and without stains of sauce we put them into the container. School Year 2005/2006 Comenius project

How is this soil? The compost is like a natural humus. Here you can see a similar compost which was produced by a family of our village. School Year 2005/2006 Comenius project

Why to produce compost? Because the quantity of rubbish decreases a lot. Because it is usefull as soil for your plants. Because it is good savings for the community and for you. School Year 2005/2006 Comenius project
