4. Glaucoma Ophthalmic Diagnostic Treatment Centres (ODTCs)
Demand of 1,299 new and 2,324 FU glaucoma patients each year
Six ODTCs in place – first one set up in 2016
Undertakes pressure tests, fields, and stereo discs for stable glaucoma
Initially follow-up patients but now seeing new patients – aim for 630 new per year
Capacity for 3,500 patients each year in ODTCs
2016/17 seen 1851 FU
97% patient satisfaction

5. Wet AMD Integrated Programme
Wet AMD responsible for more than half of registered severe sight impairment in UK – demand for AMD is 10,547
In 2015 the ‘mean’ days for patients to be seen was 39.8 which has been reduced to 20.3 in 2017 – more room for improvement
Wet AMD ODTC opened in Newport Specsavers September 2016
September 2016 – August 2017 – 5,978 patients seen

Increase in capacity across whole system allowing specialists to treat those in greatest need
Continual reduction in waiting times working towards 10 days
Workforce plan to maximise efficient clinical care – nurse injectors

Care delivered by a fully integrated work force including secondary care, primary and the third sector
