Separation of Powers The power for the U.S. government is separated in 3 branches. Legislative - Congress Executive - President Judicial - Supreme Court

Checks and Balances Checks and balances is when each government branch can be checked by other branches. This is to make sure that one branch isn't more powerful than the others. The power is balanced by the members of the Supreme Court which is appointed by the Congress.

Federalism Federalism is a government system that is controlled by two levels of government. The United States Constitution grants the federal government to enact laws governing the entire country.
