Targeted Hunting – Mainly Cultural Uses (ceremonies, social events, fishing status)
Opportunistic Hunting – due to the availability of protein, opportunity to make money from the sale of dugong meat (Asians prefer to pay good money for rare meat)
By-catch/Net entanglement – availability of fishing gear to catch a lot of fish in shorter period of time.
Tourism – to attract tourist and get income from the visitors to see dugongs (dugongs might be kept captive)
Boat Strikes – Efficient way of moving around in general
