What is personality? The particular combination of emotional, attitudinal, and behavioral response patterns of an individual. Refers to dispositions in the person that help to determine his behavior and that differ from one person to another.

Carl Jung Typology Jung concluded that differences in behavior result from people’s inborn tendencies to use their minds in different ways. As people act on these tendencies, the develop patterns of behavior.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
Created during World War II to help women entering the workforce for the first time. A questionnaire designed to measure psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions.

Preferences The MBTI & Jung’s Typology report preferences on four dichotomies, each consisting of two opposite poles. What is a preference? Sign your name as you normally do. Sign your name with your opposite hand.

Unlike MBTI, the Big 5 is not based on anyone’s theory of behavior Began in 1936, 18,000 words from the English dictionary were identified that could be used to distinguish a person’s behavior Over time and many different studies, it was narrowed down to FIVE
