2. Why Use a Caliper? To measure:
the dimensions of a 3-Dimensional object, like a bullet, blade, rod, or sphere
the inside diameter of a hollowed out object or container
the depth of penetration of an object, like a bullet lodged in a wall or in tissue

And to get more precision when measuring; calipers give you an additional decimal place (significant digit)
