Sit anywhere for now, you will be getting new seats today

2. Interactive notebook setup
With a pen or a sharpie, write your name and class period on the front of the notebook
starting on the first page, number the front and back of the pages on the top corners
Number all the way to at least 25 for today

3. Notebook page setup
On pages 2 - 7, you will title the top of the pages:
Table of Contents
Page 8 and 9 you will title it:
Nature of Science Scale and reflection
Page 10 will be titled:
Nature of Science pre test

4. Scale and tracking Slip
Copy down the following goal in the empty square on the tracking slip:
I will understand and apply appropriate methods of scientific investigation, experimentation, and research
Look at your scale: shade the tracking slip where you currently feel you are at and date it
Glue the baby scale on the top of page 8
Glue the goal slip under the baby scale on page 8

5. Bellwork 8/19/2014 Grab a worksheet from the back of the room
Take out a highlighter
Take out your notebook

6. On page 9: Reflection questions
What is your goal
In detail explain how you are going to reach your goal
How is the scale going to help you in reaching your goal?
Then glue the pretest on page 10

7. Textbook set up
On the spine of the book write your name and class period

You may use pages 7-8 in your book as a reference
1. What is the difference between an observation and an inference?
2. What is the difference between a qualitative observation and a quantitative observation?

11. Room Map Activity
You will be working with your teams for this activity
Look around the room and discuss some observations you notice about the room
Discuss # 1-3 that are at your desk

12. Room map guidelines
You will be recreating a model of the room with your team
You must include the following as accurately as possible
Room outline
All possible exits
All bookshelves, cabinets, island sinks and desks
(no chairs)
** on the bottom of your model you will have two sections labeled Quantitative observations and Qualitative observations
** in this section you will explain as many quantitative and qualitative observations in the room as possible
