7. What is Family Connection by Naviance?
A web-based technology program for Guidance Counselors & the College Counselor to assist students with college admissions and life after high school plans.
Students can research careers & colleges.
Students will use Family Connection for the college admissions process during junior & senior year.

8. When do students use Family Connection?
Students will register and be assigned two tasks for Spring 2017:
Learning Styles Inventory
Career Interest Inventory
Counselors will use the information to guide course selection and summer enrichment suggestions.
Students will use Family Connection for the college admission process in junior and senior year.
Counselors will host A-Block meetings to introduce the program.
Info can be used for personal growth and understanding, in classes (Epistemology, Lasallian Days - career day, and course interests), and eventually the college admission process)

10. What do you envision for your child after June 2020?
Amy to lead conversation and a Think/Pair/Share between parents.
Goal: address their fears about the college process or that their child will not get accepted to any colleges. There are over 4,000 colleges. There is an appropriate fit for everyone.
Focus now is on academics, not college.

Rising Sophomore Action Plan

Ms. G - what do you tell the students they need to do BEFORE our meeting? (come prepared and have questions ready)

12. Important Dates April 3 - AP Information Night @ 7:00 pm
April - PowerSchool Portal opens for course enrollment- Your child MUST register online. (The course request sheet is only a part of the process.)
April 13 - Last day for students to change course requests
June 20 - Course schedules available to review online
Course Catalog can be found on the website under the ‘Academics’ tab.
Four Year Plans can be found on Family Connection and the SM website
Encourage your student to spend time looking at the catalog and the request sheet
