1. Syndicate Method
Syndicate method is a participative method which basically consists of dividing up the participants into number of groups for the purpose of discussion, in exercise, or work on a project.

2. Use To undertake a practical exercise or a project.
To split a large group into more manageable form etc.

3. Advantages
Encourage frank discussion (especially if no instructor present).
Gives practice in chairmanship and presentation of report or findings (generally).

The reporting back stage enables each group to test their approach/ conclusions against the other groups.
Force group members to take an active participation.

5. Disadvantages
An assertive member of a group can dominate the other members and impose his views.
It is time consuming (Generally).

6. Process Preparation of subject/issues.
Subject/issues should be informed to all the participants.
Formation of group and chairperson selection.
Observation during the discussion and stimulate each and every members for active participation.

7. Contd… Process Collection of the reports after the completion of time.
Report presentation.
Discussion/question on every report .
Conclusion of the reports should be linked up with the subject matter.

8. Considerations
Use this technique with discretion and after careful preparation and adequate briefing.
Do not set impossible task. Take account of the group's experience and capacity when framing the remit.

Decide the time/point at which it can be introduced to the best advantage.
Ensure that the reporting back period allows adequate time for the presentation and discussion of all the reports.
