Who would you interview?
Learning portfolio review activity Who would you interview? 1 2 3 Activity: Who would you interview? Distribute Handout – Who Would You Interview? I’m going to display three different learning portfolio samples on the screen. There are links to each of these on SoELP if you would like to visit the actual Weebly sites after this workshop. After reviewing the samples on screen, you will have a few moments to score each one according to the instructions on your handout sheet, then we’ll move on to the next one Once we’ve looked at all 3 profiles we’ll take a vote and see who gets the interview… Images: “profile” by David García from the Noun Project

So, who would you interview?
Learning portfolio review activity So, who would you interview? 1 2 3 Students to total up scores and identify which candidate they would interview Ask students to raise hands to show if they would interview candidate 1, 2 or 3. {Note: This could be done as an online poll, but with the number of potential students in this workshop, i.e. 300, the university would need to pay for an account with a polling tool to handle that many responses.} Images: “profile” by David García from the Noun Project

3 Learning portfolio review activity
As a prospective employer, based on the Learning portfolios shown, I would choose Candiate 3 because she used: A fresh, clean background with contrasting text in a font that was easy to read online and accessible Quality, professional images where relevant A good mix of media like video, presentations, documents, etc., to show her range of work Downloads to give more detail so keeping on screen text to a minimum A clear navigation structure which not only was easy to follow but also showed the viewer which page they were on Consistent look & feel, language and “flavour” throughout A well organised layout using headings and bullets, which helps a lot when reading online or working through lots of information Attribution for work not created by herself Embedded media objects for easy accessibility Colours that complimented each other and were easy on the eye A contact form as a way for people to get in touch with her about opportunities Discuss if there are major differences between responses and what the presenter would expect, given the samples shown. Reminder that there are links to all these samples – plus one more – on SOELP if students want a closer look at layout of Candidate 3 as a guide.
