M INIMUM G RADUATION R EQUIREMENTS English: 4 credits (Must include CA I and CA II) Math: 3 credits (Must include Alg. I for Class of 2012 and beyond) Science: 3 credits Social Studies: 3 credits (Must include Am. History and Govt) Fine Arts: 1 credit Practical Arts: 1 credit PE: 1 credit Health: ½ credit Personal Finance: ½ credit Electives: 7 credits Pass the MO and US Constitution Tests TOTAL: 24 Credits

C OLLEGE PREPARATORY CERTIFICATE The New Franklin Board of Education awards the College Preparatory Studies Certificate (CPSC) to students who successfully complete a rigorous academic program in high school. To receive the award, the following must be completed in addition to the minimum graduation requirements: 4 total math credits (integrated math and discrete math do not count to CPSC requirements) World history is a required course for the CPSC 3 of your 7 elective credits must be made up of core curriculum courses Earn at least a 3.0 GPA in the combined subject areas of communication arts, mathematics, science and social studies Score at or above the 2010 national composite average on the ACT Maintain a 9-12 attendance rate of at least 95 percent If you have questions about your ability to meet the CPSC requirements please come see Ms. Reynolds

E NGLISH C LASSES You must : have 4 total credits of English to graduate Take and pass Communication Arts I Take and pass Communication Arts II Other English classes: Communication Arts III Dual Credit English 110/111 Practical English Modern Novel (1/2 Credit, 1 Semester) Creative Writing (1/2 Credit, 1 Semester) Literature of Nature (1/2 Credit, 1 Semester) Literature of Sports (1/2 Credit, 1 Semester) Civil Rights Literature (1/2 Credit, 1 Semester) Dual Credit Speech (1/2 Credit, 1 Semester) Workplace Communications (1/2 Credit, 1 Semester) Mythology (1/2 Credit, 1 Semester) Communications (1/2 Credit, 1 Semester) Mass Media (1/2 Credit, 1 Semester) Modern Non-fiction (1/2 Credit, 1 Semester) Film Studies (1/2 Credit, 1 Semester) Morphology & Theme (1/2 Credit, 1 Semester) Taking the most challenging classes you can while still maintaining good grades will look best as you apply to colleges.

P HYSICAL E DUCATION (P.E.) & H EALTH You Must: Have 1 P.E. credit to graduate Have ½ of a credit in health to graduate Classes to fulfill P.E. credit: Lifetime sports P.E. Weight Training Physical Fitness/Health

E LECTIVES You get to choose 7 other classes to use as electives in order to get to 24 total credits. Other classes to take as electives: Spanish I Spanish II Cadet Teaching If you take more than the minimum amount of credits in one of the subject areas already discussed, those extra credits count as electives. Some four-year universities require two credits of foreign language
