1. Spelling Practice: Memorization Techniques (Part 2)
Syllable - Write out your words, broken up into syllables, on small pieces of paper (use the paper we use for “tented words”). Fold over each syllable and write the missing syllable on the fold. Repeat for the remaining syllables at least three more times.
Secret Agent - Number the alphabet from 1-26, then convert your words to a number code. Alternatively, convert your words to Morse Code.
Other-handed - If you are right-handed, write with your left, or vice versa.
Picture - Draw a picture and write your words in the picture. Alternatively, use your words to make the picture (like a concrete poem).
Story - Compose a short story using all of the words from your lesson.
Reversed - Write your words in ABC order...backwards! (i.e., in Z-A order, not A-Z order)
*Air writing - Use a chopstick to draw each word’s letters in the air.
