How We Got Started System nursing strategy for 100% ANCC designation, support from CNE Dr. Michelle Janney Magnet and Pathway to Excellence Council charter developed- 2016 Initial work completed: Set goals and objectives for the council Aligned Job Descriptions with ANCC Role Categorization Cross walk between Magnet and PTE Developed timeline for all facilities to obtain designation/redesignation Process for new Magnet and Pathway to Excellence leader orientation and development

Structure Members: Chair - Lead council to achieve purpose and goals
Co-Chair – Partners with chair to achieve goals Facilitator - Ensure alignment of council across the system and among the CNOs Member – Responsible for actively engaging in in the council and effectively championing initiatives within their facility; helping to facilitate CNO engagement and alignment Purpose: Ensure facility readiness for Magnet or Pathways to Excellence designation and/or redesignation Develop and share best practices for engaging nurses and team members in Magnet and Pathway to Excellence Partner with CNOs to assure alignment Assure consistent representation of IUH and IUH brand Perform quarterly data reviews and conduct gap assessments

Processes Started with meetings every other month, then quarterly, and now break out sessions Facilitator is linkage to senior nursing leadership Goals and objectives are developed annually

Goals 2018 Develop plan for submission of appropriate outpatient data for nurse sensitive indicators, where applicable. Implement plan for supporting documentation skills development for written submissions, including methods for capturing data for documentation. Progress to 7 Magnet designated facilities and 4 Pathway to Excellence facilities. Submit minimum of 1 Magnet or 1 Pathway to Excellence abstract per eligible facility.
