Grammar Practice 23: Demonstrative Adjectives
Work by yourself to complete the practice side of your grammar sheet. DO NOT write the sentence for parts B or C. Only correct the sentences. You may use your notes. We will go over it as a class.

Maniac Magee Ch To yourself, silently finish the questions for chapters If you are finished, make sure you are caught up on chapter titles, chapter summaries, and figurative language. Before we discuss the answers to the questions, answer these on the same sheet of paper as yesterday (if you did not finish): Why did Maniac stop and angrily brush over the 101 on the door before he left the band shell? What does this symbolize? Why did Maniac wait for death? Cite evidence from the text.

When you are done, answer the questions on the sheet. We will go over them when everyone is done. Make sure your chapter titles, chapter summaries, and figurative language chart are all updated. Before we go over the answers, answer the following questions on a separate sheet of paper: Explain the meaning of the metaphor, “The whole place was a sheet of red-hot lava.” What made Russell and Piper McNab feel important? Cite evidence from the text to support your answer.
