This scholarship honors the memory of Terri O’Gara Murdock, who was a 1998 MSW graduate of Texas State. It acknowledges her commitment to the mission of the School as well as her contribution to the profession of social work. Eligibility: MSW student in good standing who is currently enrolled in the program and/or formally admitted during academic year Award: Three $1200 MSW scholarships for academic year Selection Criteria: Applicant must show an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 and/or a graduate GPA of at least 3.0 as verified by an official transcript provided by the SSW office Applicant must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA for the duration of the scholarship as verified by the SSW office Applicant must indicate a commitment to the mission of the School (see webpage) for social work practice in the public sector through current interest and past activity Applicant must submit a resume indicating volunteer and/or work experience and a personal essay (two pages double-spaced) that incudes two clearly articulated professional goals and addresses the above criteria Application and submission: Submit application electronically to Ms. Hortencia Garza no later than Monday, May 1, 2017 by 5:00pm consisting of one document labelled as ScholarshipName.YourLastName. It should include: 1) a cover letter addressed to the SSW Scholarship Committee, 2) a resume (TXST student ID number and required), and 3) the essay. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. All correspondence will be via TXST only. Recipients will be notified via TXST no later than August 1, 2017.
