A. 1, B. 3, C. 5, D. 7 Magnetism is due to circular type of motion of a charged particle. Each possible value of the magnetic quantum number (ml) corresponds to one way that the magnetism generated by the motion of an electron around the nucleus can be oriented. For an electron in a 3p orbital: l=1, and the allowed values of ml are: -1, 0, +1. Since there are 3 possible values of ml, there are 3 ways. The number of ways that the magnetism due to the motion of an electron around the nucleus is given by the number possible values of the magnetic quantum number em sub ell. CLICK For an electron in a p orbital, the orbital quantum number ell is equal to one, … In this case, there are three possible values for the magnetic quantum number….-1, 0, and +1.
