Selection using PLI will increase the rate of genetic improvement in every trait except Milk Yield which will improve a little more slowly.
However selecting for smaller, longer lived cows is expected to increase
PROFITABILITY

Inbreeding Rate had doubled from

Use of EVA delivers matings of highest Genetic Merit (PLI) for lowest Inbreeding coefficient

16. GGBP - The Future
Changes in UK regulation are making it impossible for us to export semen to UK, Europe and USA.
We will continue to seek bulls of unrelated pedigree from other populations provided that they meet our selection criteria.

17. GENOMICS
Participation in G2F
We intend to build a genomic library of all Island cattle beginning with those present in 2014.
Females genotyped with 7k chip
Males genotyped with 150k chip
All calves sampled by ear tissue
2,100 Island Animals already sampled
We hope that these will be supplemented by data from other populations.
Reliability of GEBV proofs will increase as we accumulate more records.
