Review According to the video, what is an inference?
What does evidence from the text have to do with inferencing? Go over your answers with a neighbor. An inference is an educated guess that we make based on the information in front of us (text), combined with our own experience (common sense). INFERENCE= common sense + evidence from text We need textual evidence to back up our inferences. Textual evidence is specific information from a text that we use to support our inference(s).

What is the difference between falling action and resolution? What do we learn during the exposition? When is the conflict introduced in the story?

Plot Parts Exposition: The beginning of the story. characters and setting are introduced, conflict may be introduced here Rising action: action builds, conflict occurs; suspense builds (if there is suspense) Climax: the turning point of the story. Often called the most exciting (or suspenseful) point of the story Falling action: action slows, conflicts begin to resolve Resolution: all conflicts are resolved, story ends
