Do you have your thesis complete?
If your thesis is complete, please let me check it off before your continue. If I told you that it is acceptable, please be certain that I sign your pacing guide before you leave today. If your thesis is still incomplete, finish this first!

The Research Process Once you have your thesis, you will begin looking for books, articles, sites, etc. that prove/support your ideas. This means you are going to have to READ!!! Example: The use of illegal drugs has made an impact on American society both economically and socially. Where do you start?

You will probably begin with a web search
You will probably begin with a web search. You will need to find valid sources so you will need to use a valid search engine (specially for research). iSeek: Simply ask a question or enter search topics or tools and iSEEK will pull from scholastic sources to find exactly what you are looking for. ERIC: ERIC provides access to an extensive body of education–related literature including journal articles, books, research syntheses, conference papers, technical reports, policy papers, etc. VirtualLRC: Virtual Learning Resources Center (VLRC) is an online index that hosts thousands of scholarly websites, all of which are selected by teachers and librarians from around the globe. NoodleTools: Noodle Tools is a service that helps students find references for papers or projects; also provides MLA citation for you.

Thesis: The use of illegal drugs has made an impact on American society both economically and socially. Ask/search Impact of illegal drugs on America economically LOOK for the information Each source will need an annotated page. Even if you do not plan to use this in your essay, you have acquired new information. Create your annotated bibliography.
6
Today You will begin your research. Do not get frustrated because this is a difficult process. You may read an article that you think you will not use at all; still create an annotated bibliography for it. Also, this is a tedious process. It is important to use your time wisely. Don’t talk or goof-off; it is distracting to the people around you and will end up creating more work for you in the long run.
