What Happened? In 1986 the Chernobyl Power Plant exploded due to a power surge which caused the nuclear field to melt. A steam explosion blew up the reactor building. Then it caused a fire and it spread radioactive isotopes across hundreds of miles.

As of right now the shelter they built is neither strong nor durable. A new one will be built by 2011. The neighboring town is still uninhabitable.
