What is a participle? It is either the main verb in a sentence OR
A verb acting like an adjective SAY WHAT? The running dog raced through the yard. The dog was running through the yard.

Past or Present? The participle can be in either tense.
The dog has jumped through the fence. The dog is jumping through the fence.

Participial Phrase The participle and its related words
Begins with a participle, and the whole phrase behaves like an adjective! Yelling loudly, my mom embarrassed me at the game. The movie, dismissed for its low quality, earned thirty million at the box office.

What are infinitives? They are formed by taking “to” plus a verb
To go, to run, to fly, to swim Infinitives are verbals that can be adjectives, adverbs, or nouns! Beware of “to” plus a noun or pronoun… That would be a preposition
