False beliefs… Four major types of delusions: Grandeur: Believe more important or believe they are someone else (Napoleon) Persecution: “Out to get him”/ Followed… Sin or guilt: False beliefs that the person is responsible for some misfortune Influence: False beliefs of being controlled by outside forces

Auditory (hearing voices) Visual (seeing things) Tactile (feeling skin sensations)

Disorganized Schizophrenia: Child-like behavior, incoherence, grossly disorganized behavior, bizarre thinking, and flat or inappropriate emotions Word Salad…

Types of Schizophrenic Disorders:
Catatonic Schizophrenia = severe disturbance of motor activity Catatonic stupor – little or no activity, movement, or speech (waxy flexibility) Catatonic excitement – rapid movements with delusions and hallucinations May behave in “robot-like” fashion

Paranoid Schizophrenia = characterized by extreme suspiciousness and complex, bizarre delusions

Undifferentiated Schizophrenia: Clear schizophrenic symptoms that don’t meet the criteria for another type
