What do we think of when we talk about “gender”?
Section Break Not much opportunity for interaction here, but I usually like to start w/ asking people what they think of when asked to think of “gender.” Stereotypes matter. 3

World Bank Policy Research Report (2001) Key Message: Gender inequality is pervasive and imposes significant development costs Societies that discriminate on the basis of gender pay a significant price: Higher poverty, lower quality of life Slower growth Weaker governance Paper WB last week -- was anyone there -- I was not, unfortunately.
