3. PROPOSAL INTRODUCTION (I)
Vision:
New aircrafts will have the focus in Design to cost, so simplification will be a must in elementary parts design. High accuracy lamination will not be key, so new concepts for laying machine could be studied.
A new machine concept will be studied and developed in collaboration with machinery manufacturers looking for:
Flexibility
Low cost (reduce current cost to the half)
Motivation:
Currently automated solutions for laying operation in composites parts manufacturing implies big and expensive machines focused in high accuracy and high deposition rates suitable for covers and panels, or complex machines with very low deposition rate and design extremely dedicated.
These solutions are not suitable for new scenarios of high rates, low cost and flexible production

4. PROPOSAL INTRODUCTION (II)
Expected results
Machine for 2D flat laminates. Maximum length of 10 m.
Avoiding complex and expensive laying heads (simplified movements, axis reduction, standard multi-head solutions, simplified cutting system…)
Avoiding complex structures (standard structures, relaxed tolerance requirements…)
Tolerance assurance through active control methods (vision systems i.e)
