Results 162Gd 64 New levels in red
Yrast states known from J. Phys. G: Nucl. Part. Phys. 30 (2004) 2+ state at assigned in Physica Scripta. Vol. 34, , (1986) Other assignments based on systematics of other Gd nuclei.

Physics of Deformed Nuclei
Nuclei near midpoints between spherical shells are known to be well deformed Elevel = A∗I (I+1) Small First Exited State Presence of vibrational bands

Conclusion From our study of the spontaneous fission Californium-252 we found, for the first time: Six levels and nine gammas in 162Gd. We see nuclear structure consistent with that of a quadrupole deformed nucleus.
