2. Task 1  Read the story and view the pictures
Discuss the answers to the following questions with your partner
How do the pictures create atmosphere?
How important are they to the narrative?

3. Task 2 Answer the questions you just had for your own picture book.

4. Task 3 Look at the pictures with your partner.
Sequence the pictures according to narrative structure, meaning, logic
Write your own abbreviated version of the story based on the pictures

In paragraph form, answer the following questions in your exercise books
What is the relationship between words and pictures? What re the benefits and drawbacks of pictures? Just words? Pictures and words?

6. Homework
Bring in your favourite opening paragraph to a story you have read (or write it out in your exercise book).
In your exercise book, give three reasons why it is your favourite opening paragraph.
